Iraq's PM Meets with Siemens and General Electric Re Power Plants

On Wednesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani convened a meeting with representatives from Siemens and General Electric (GE). The purpose of the meeting was to go over recent advancements in maintaining and enhancing production at Iraq's power plants. This took place during the Prime Minister's visit to the Al-Quds power plant in northeastern Baghdad to inaugurate new high-voltage facilities.

The discussion focused on the progress being made with regard to contracts recently signed.

Al-Sudani made it clear that the electricity crisis was being treated as a priority by the government and that measures must be taken to deliver results for Iraqis. He mentioned plans to take advantage of associated gas in order to reduce reliance on imported gas and prevent adverse effects caused by gas flaring. Also, he inaugurated the Al-Rasheed gas station, a 250 MW project designed in multiple stages in south Baghdad to cater to the city's increasing energy needs.
