Iraq Oil Minister Seeking Investors in Iraqi Energy Sector

Minister of Oil Hayyan Abdul Ghani on Tuesday asked international companies that specialized in oil, energy and infrastructure development to invest in the Iraqi oil sector. He said that the ministry was ready to provide the appropriate investment environment and facilitate investment activities in Iraq to ensure a positive role for these investors.

Hayyan stressed that "the Ministry seeks to develop a long-term plan and strategy for developing the oil industry, increasing production of gas, as well as continuous investment programs in all aspects of the oil industry." He added that "there is also room for investors in Q6, which is an ambitious round with many contracts for more than ten oil fields throughout Iraq and will open up further opportunities for investors who will benefit from favorable returns."
